I love my Stop Techs, great for everyday driving too.  If you got the cash.

you could find a set of used Porsche Cayenne caplipers/rotors if your rims are big enough Wink

What are you using the car for?

I just upgraded to AP Racing 4 piston calipers and 13" rotors. Great feel, and awesome stopping at the track even with the mild Ferodo compound.

If your looking for a less expensive option to AP, Stoptech, or brembo  ECS tuning sells a kit that uses the porsche boxster calipers. Seems to be well engineered and considers brake bais in their calculations.
 www.ecstuning.com.

With mild pads this would be a good street setup, but it would likely require some very agressive pads for heavy track duty.

check for the new wilwood superlite calipers. They seems to be very good and you can use a large range of matching pads. They are very abordable too. around $140 each.

Most of the aftermarket caliper are the same or only slightly lighter than the stock units ,

you will only benefit if you consider bushes and suspension etc

Are you talking of rotating mass or under sprung weight  ,

most 4 piston aluminum calipers are much lighter than oem single piston steel calipers.
like half the weight. Its pretty wild to see this football sized caliper and then it weigh's less than the stock unit which it half the size.

Sorry ,,,,what I meant was ,when I changed to AP setup on my golf and brembo on my Audi I had very high hopes something that did not happen ,the lighter weight  won't improve anything with stock bushes and suspension ,maybe continious track stopping

I don’t want the guy getting the wrong idée of what is going to happen

AP's with stock suspension would be a real bad idea the brake dive would be pretty severe. Stock suspension is terrrible

I am running the stg 3 big brake kit from ECS with Porsche 993TT 4-pot calipers and 322x32mm over the last 2.5 years and I'm more than happy with the brakes. Rear brakes are the Golf 20th AE calipers with ECS 308mm vented rotors ...!!! Great combination ...!!! Very Happy
