Euroswitch functions and how it differs from the North American switch

The Euroswitch is becoming a popular mod among North American VW owners.  It differs from the stock switch that's installed in North American spec Passats in a couple of ways.  First, aside from the usual OFF and ON position, there is an additional ON position.  Second, there is an additional ON position for a rear fog light.  While the latter is useless on the stock North American Passat, many have made it useful by retrofitting their Passats with a rear fog light.

The North American switch.

The European switch (a.k.a. Euroswitch).

Euroswitch functions:

OFF
In the off position, all lights are off except daytime running lights (DRL).

PARKING LIGHTS
Turn the switch clockwise to the next position to turn the following lights on:
dashboard
city lights or corner lights (where applicable)
tail lights
rear license plate illumination
side markers
The DRL remain on.

FRONT FOG LIGHTS
Pull the switch once to turn the front fog lights on (if applicable).
The DRL remain on.
NOTE: Front and rear fog lights do not work in the PARKING LIGHTS position on MY 1998-1999 Passats.

REAR FOG LIGHT
Pull the switch once more to turn the rear fog light on (if applicable).
The DRL remain on.
NOTE: Front and rear fog lights do not work in the PARKING LIGHTS position on MY 1998-1999 Passats.

HEADLIGHTS
Turn the switch clockwise once more to the next position to turn the headlights on.
NOTE: The switch can be turned between the HEADLIGHTS and the PARKING LIGHTS position without pushing it back if the fog lights are on.  The front and rear fog lights do not need to be on when switching the headlights on.
