Pro-Imports Equalizer Turbo Upgrade

March 30, 2005

source: Pro-Imports Press Release

Pro-Imports Introduces the Equalizer K04-20 Turbo Upgrade for MKIV VWs!

Utilizing K04-20 series turbos from BorgWarner and using VAG factory parts combined with the highest quality custom parts, Pro-Imports is proud to announce the official release of our K04-20 Turbo Upgrade for the MKIV Volkswagen 1.8T Golf, Jetta, GTI and GLI!

The highlights of the Equalizer Upgrade include:

• K04-20 series Turbo
• Exhaust manifold
• Exhaust up-pipe
• Oil & Water lines
• Custom 2.5" Upper intercooler pipe
• Custom Samco silicone Turbo Inlet Hose
• 3" MAF
• Revo Technik Software

We also include Step 1 of our new Thermal Control System™ which blankets the exhaust manifold and wraps the custom upper intercooler pipe with state-of-the-art thermal material that drastically lowers under hood temperatures.

Designed with flexibility in mind, the kit can be used with most of the cold air intakes currently on the market (via our supplied silicone adaptor) or at your choice we can provide a factory replacement air-box that will accept the 3" MAF. And because the software is from Revo Technik, we can offer you control over the tuning via Revo’s SPS3 devices!

The Equalizer upgrade produces 280 horse power and 310 foot pounds of torque at the flywheel. And with the available options, this upgrade is capable of 300 wheel horse power. (For dyno sheets visit http://www.pro-imports.com/dyno.htm.)

The Equalizer Turbo Kit is $2799 for all MKIV Jetta's and Golf's. Contact us directly for installation estimates and package pricing.
As a special introductory offer, the first 10 kits we install will receive a free dyno run! And the first 10 Revo customers will receive a free dyno run and $100 off the price of the kit!

For more details go to http://www.pro-imports.com/k04kit.htm. If you have any questions send an e-mail to k0420@pro-imports.com or give us a call at the shop at 301-519-0908!

Well, anyway you look at it the K04 is going to be WAY more reliable when modded than the stock K03s....if a BT upgrade is what you are looking at maybe consider a gt28rs?????  i don't know

You guys know that that's the OEM TT K04, not a K04-001 baby upgrade that is the usual K04 referenced when talking about VW trans motors?  That turbo/kit will put out APR stg3 numbers and do it cheaper and with better spool.

a ko4-001 came of a diesel truck in europe...directly bolts onto our stock mani...

a k04-020 and k04-23 etc etc are just different completely...larger housings, different flange, it's the TT 225 turbo (k04-020)...so if you can find a totaled 225 and swap out mani and turbo and tip, maybe the DP will fit...most likely it will...then that is worth it...(FYI the RS4 and RS6 and S4 cars use these upgraded turbos to get massive power with great spool)

the k04-001 is a different story

you can find more info about the different k04 variants here:  www.mjmturbos.com just don't buy from Jamie @ MJM if you want something of theirs, I can get it for you not from him...he is an idiot!!!
