Hello everyone,

I have a 57 Polo GTi 1.8T and was looking into remaps. I have seen that the Polo gti cup version has 180bhp compared to my 150, without any significant mods, just an ecu remap and a different exhuast as far as i can see..
After looking into it all a bit, at the various tuning companies and groups, i see most people seem to think the engine can quite easily be pushed up to 210bhp, pretty certain this is true as the old Golf gti was the same engine, as well as numerous Audi TT's and A3's, plus loads of previous other VW Models.

I obviously like the idea of this but just think this may be too much for the chassis of a polo....?

Just wondering if anyone has remapped or modified their Polo to this level? How does it handle? Obviously alot of it is down to the skill of the driver but i cant
help but think that if it was that easy and cheap to make the car that fast, why wasnt it made like that at the factory?

Any comments.. im all ears..

Hi Lee

most of us started many years ago with the same question , and although I drive something different as expected it uses 1.8t so I will try and answer   blah
The 1.8t (in the world) motors are pushing 900whp , pushing 10 000 rpm , running 8sec 1/4mile (FWD) everyday new things pop up that make the 1.8t even better ( a lot of guys try things and we start seeing what works good and what not)

I dont think you will have a problem with just a remap , It will give you a new car . unbelievable

AS to what company give the guys from Unitronics a call   icon_thumbup

I'm with Jeronkie,

Give Unitronic a call.  They should be able to set you up with the right file for the right mods.  They hooked me up quite well.

I would not push to 210 bhp if I were you. First of all, Volkswagen has specifically told its customers to not make any particular kind of modifications as it can damage the engine to a great extent. Besides, the chassis of the polo is really going to suffer if you are going to upgrade it to a 210 bhp. I suggest you take it light and do not upgrade. If at all you want to upgrade, I say you go with the Unitronic as it will do just about what you want!

Every manufacturer in the world say you must not modify . How many Polo's have you build ? or 1.8t ?   grumpfuttock search Brazilian Drags and you will see a lot of very fast polos No modifications to the chassis , as for the motor since my last post some of the guys pushed there 1.8t motors way past 1000whp and ref it to 12K so it can done with modifications of course . (decide what power you want and we can give some ideas how to get there)
