Hi,  I have a 2001 audi a4 with a 1.8t in it.  I modded the car somewhat and I now need to adjust timing.  I have a diode on my map so it doesn't see what is fully going on yet.  I DON'T want to run a chip, do you guys have any suggestion on what to buy for this?

Thanks in advance

yes, I need to adjust timing for the boost i'm running.  The stock computer doesn't do a good job at that.

I know you said you didn't want a chip ( don't know why). But that is the safest way to raise boost and having your timing right. I don't think there is a way to adjust your timing on stock s/w unless you get a adjustable cam gear?

I don't want a chip because i'm sure there is a better way to spend $500+ just to adjust the timing. I'm already running a ebc and don't need that part.  The car has variable valve timing on it so adjustible timing gears wont work.  I need to adjust timing through the rpm curve, not total.

I see what you are saying ,   icon_help2  ,but there is more to a chip tune than timing ,and what I cannot understand is why someone  only what to do one thing when he can get it all ,  icon_driving  I am sure all of the tuners on the site started like you (looking at the cheapest possible mod) but with time we have learned if you want reliable (working) power it will cost you some money ,,, lots of guys do performance chips/software   but I am sure if you give DonR a call he will explain ALL the advantages of new software

Hope you sort out your timing problems ,,keep us posted  Very Happy

take a look around for the unisettings software, and you need a VAG-COM cable.  icon_thumbup1

even so, you are changing cam timing and not ignition timing.
