I just wired up an Autronic SM4 on my 2001 Audi A4 with the stock ecu driving my cluster. Everything works except my A/C doesnt get cold anymore. The blower works, clutch works by jumping it. Supposely I heard that the A/C is tied to the ECU. Not sure if the A/C control head only sends an idle bump signal to the ECU or the ECU controls the A/C to turn it off when going WOT depending on TPS position. Anyone have experience with bypassing the stock ecu for controlling the AC.

I had to completely disconnect my stock ecu.  I didn't have enough time at that moment to trace more wires, but it works when disconnected... if you find out why I'd be interested
