What type of oil should be used for break-in? Synthetic or Conventional? 0W30, 5W30, 10W30 or 10W40?  Any other precautions on first starting a newly rebuilt engine?

I much prefer conventional 10-30 or 10-40.  If you are running new cams, I suggest a container of General Motors EOS

What's the benefit of that additive for the cams bob?

How long should you run the dino oil? and how long should you use the additive?

The additive is high in zinc which really helps with the sliding friction of the cam/follower interface.  I'd leave it in at least 1000 miles

You can also use Lucas TB Zinc Plus for Engine break-in:

Bob,

I ordered a container of GM Eos because I just had a new set of Catcams installed + new Je pistons and rings ...
The container's back side has a sticker on it saying this :  "we do not suggest the use of EOS  as an oil additive "
They say it is only for assembly and not to be mixed with engine oil...

What should I do ? Should I use the whole container with 5 liters of Pentosin 15W/40 conventional oil ??? (for break in period)

It is safe...I think the biggest concern with using Zinc additives is it may cause damage to the Catylitic converter if overfilling.

Awesome!! My cat. converter's already damaged ... !!! hehe.
I'll just empty the EOS in...to run about 1000 miles!!

Thank you Don, for your helpful reply!!
