Hey Guys,
I've been lurking on this site for about a year now and i decided i should post something up
I'm running a 01 Jetta 1.8t with a K04. Unfortunately we are stuck with crappy 91 octane in Nova Scotia. I've been running into an issue with my ignition timing where under full boost, the ignition timing is actually hitting negative values under full boost. I haven't changed any settings in vtune so the car is running the base 91 octane boost and timing maps.
From logging, i have found that: Boost spikes around 20psi. timing pull will reach upwards of 9 degrees AF is full rich, requested lambda is 0.75 EGT's are normal Fuel trims are at -1.6 MAF peaks at 170g/s IAT peaks around 45*C
My mods are: APR K04 3inch DP BF SMIC HYperboost DV N75F Carbonio Forge TIP BKR7E's gapped to .028
I just replaced the coilpacks and the MAF, but i haven't been out to log yet since I ran a compression test in the spring and i had 200psi across all 4 cylinder. I've cleaned my IAT sensor thinking maybe it was covered in oil My last dyno i made 200whp/230wtq
Anyone on here have any suggestions how to get my ignition timing back to normal

what is your overall timing? just bc you are pulling 9 degrees (which is VERY dangerous btw) doesnt mean you have low timing...

it bottoms out to zero and sometimes it goes negative at full boost, then climbs to around twelve degrees advance at redline. i know it dangerous to pull 9 degrees, but i've logged my knock sensors and the voltage stays well below 20 i'm stumped, it has to be sensor related

let me try and rephrase... what is your overall range of timing (not pull or advance)... how many degrees after TDC is your plug firing?

can you log your ECT sensor? those can go w/o throwing a CEL and can cause havoc with fueling and timing...
do it from a cold start until the thermostat opens

I'm not sure what the ECT sensor is, but i have a feeling your referring to the coolant temp sensor. In the process of diagnosing the car, i have replaced it with a new one just becasue it such a cheap piece, lol Coolant temps are reading between 90-93

yea i was refering to the engine coolant temp sensor... so that didnt help either?
might be time to give that IAT a try

probably the same deal as the Coolant temp sensor where it can go bad without throwing a code... I think i'll try throwing in an IAT sensor from my buddies car to see if it makes a difference and run some more logs. I'm starting to wonder if the Boost Factory SMIC was really worth the money i spent on it

Sounds like a plan, see if that does anything What does your BF SMIC have anything to do with this

Sounds like a plan, see if that does anything Well we found out last night that the IAT sensor from the AWP's are different then the IAT Sensor from the AWW. So my hunt begins for a new IAT sensor. What does your BF SMIC have anything to do with this Because for the $500 that I spent on it, the reduction in IAT have been neglegible

how many pounds of boost are you pushing?
if you are pushing anything decent outta that little k04 you iat should be fairly high

I'm only pushing 20psi, and droping to 12psi at redline. basically what the APR K04 file requests. I haven't changed any settings at all in vtune. On my last log, IAT's started around 20*C and were at 45*C by redline. I believe the outside temp was around 8*C

wow! those numbers definetly surprised me! guess its time for w/m now HAHA!!! as much fun as it would be, it would feel like a bandaid solution to an underlying problem. Since my 02 sensor is basically flatlining @ .076 lambda around 4000rpm, i'm going to replace it to see if it may be causing a problem. Also, one of my buddies has a GTI with an AWW, so i'll snatch his IAT sensor when he's not looking

1st 02 sensor, I'm running APR's testpipe file, so i don't know if the 2nd 02 sensor ever serves a purpose

it seemed like it was all over the place, but it was not as if one cylinder was pulling timing that stood out more then the others. My Logs at on my laptop at home. I'll try to get them loaded up after work
