Ok...so I don't have a warranty and don't have a car payment any more...you know what that means...big turbo time.   I am new to big turbo setups and figured you guys would be the most knowledgeable and helpful in this area.  I plan on saving up some money and stockpiling some parts to do this spring/summer of the upcoming year.  As for mods so far I only have the basic stuff done...cai, suspension, rims, and chip.

First question what kind of turbo should I go with?  I want to be capable of putting down big power.  I want to be able to run about 300hp then do internals and crank it up to get the most power out of it.  Besides the turbo I would also be doing software, complete exhaust (headers and turboback), some sort of intercooler, and clutch all at the same time.  AS for the intercooler I am debating what I want.  I like the sleeper/stock look so I would prefer not to go with a front mount.  Anyone running dual side mount intercoolers like on the TT?

What do you guys think so far?  I realize that the bigger the turbo not always the better.  What else would you guys recommend?  I am probably also forgetting a lot of bs little parts I am going to need as well.

And...a pics for reference icon_driving

Sweet action, Joe.

2871r seems like a good option for your power goals. Get the Uni 630 file. Pag Part exhaust manifold. IIRC, Donr ran a twin cooler set up for a while, but he switched it out for one bigger core.

Ant was that the turbo you ran in your 20th for a while?  How did you like it?  What kind of numbers did you put down?

Nah, I wish I ran that turbo. I had the 28r. A little bit smaller then the 2871r. I never really dyno'd with that set up fully tuned. A few days after I installed the kit, I dyno'd it at WF running apr ko4 s/w and stock injectors at 18psi. I put down 230 whp. I don't recall the wtq. I was told that dyno dyno'd 10% low. All I know is once I got 440 injectors and turned up the boost, it was fun as hell. I surprised a few evos (some stock and some not). ahhhhh, I miss those days. But let me know if you need any more help. I can get you answers if I don't know them or hopefully someone will chime in here.

Yeah...b/c of the amount of work I have to have done I am considering having a shop do it.  I am going to be heading to synapse early next week hopefully to get their opinions of what they think.  I feel like i want to go "all out" with the gti just because I am going to be buying a daily driving at the same time and wont have to worry about it getting beat up during the winter time any more.

Did you do internals as well with the 20th?  I am impressed with those numbers for just running k04 s/w.  As i think about this more and more I come up with crazier ideas...not like thats a bad thing oranything beer

A 2871R or 3071R are great street turbo setups.

I ran stock internals with the 28r is. As long as your inline fuel pump doesn't stop working  icon_violent1

But anyways, go 2871r or 3071r.... Uni 630cc file, Pag ex mani, Monster 007 intake mani or I think Kilmer made one too.....DonR TIP (you still making those Don?) Not sure on IC??

You will be doing this  ahhh when you get on the throttle..... Funky

No more TIP's...but if going with the pagmani my tip wouldn't work regardless. There will soon be an all cast intake that will outperform the 007 intake Wink IC's..there is Eurojet, Precision Turbo and a few others that are decent.
