We are proud to annouce that our daily driven shop MK4 has joined the ranks of IE customers in the 400+ whp region, with nothing but a set of our drop in 19mm Connecting Rods and a bolt on GT3071r setup.  Funky The days of spending thousands upon thousands to build a longblock that will take you deep into the 4xx whp range are over for good. This was achieved with nothing more then a stock AWP longblock, head, intake manifold, a cast exhaust manifold and a GT3071r.

While we are by no means putting down the most power out of any of our customers on this setup, this is merely a matter of choices. We chose to use a small turbo and keep this setup entirely "sleeper" if you will, because this car is actually our business / marketing manager's sole means of transportation. This entire project was completed on weekends and when he was out of town not requiring his car.

This power was made on sunoco 112 leaded fuel, at 30-32psi of boost. The car has a standard (not high flow) 3" catalytic converter, a full exhaust with muffler, 2.5" charge piping, stock head, cams, intake manifold, pistons. It is a very mild setup.

Specifications:

Short block:

Head, Manifolds:

  • Stock AWP small port head
  • Stock intake manifold, throttle body
  • EIP style cast iron exhaust manifold

Turbo Setup:

  • Garret GT3071r T3 .63 a/r, T04e .60 a/r compressor cover
  • Tial 38mm Wastegate, 1 bar spring
  • Tial 50mm Blow off valve, 9 psi spring
  • AEM Tru-Boost EBC
  • PTE 400HP Rated FMIC w/ Garret Bar & Plate Core
  • All 2.5" aluminum charge piping
  • 3" Downpipe / exhaust, wastegate rerouted into downpipe

Fuel Setup

Other stuff

Overall we are extremely excited for this very well rounded true street car. Keep your eyes peeled for many more clones and similar setups popping up around the world, even just yesterday I noticed one of our dealers put down 418whp on his personal car with a set of these rods and a bulls eye performance / schwitzer S258.

A couple of pics:

Do you have any pics of the downpipe? Or pictures of the turbo/mani/downpipe mounted on the car, from underneath it?

Didn't bother with any of those, because its damn difficult to see much anyways unless you took the subframe out. The downpipe comes out of the turbo and does an immediate 180 degree, then a 90 degree bend is used, straight through the tunnel, and a small bend to level it out under the floor.

The downpipe is a bit tricky because that 180 needs to be extremely short radius.

Other then that, nothing else is tricky just need a couple of silicone 90's.

Just ordered some giggle juice since we are out of turbo on this, 500whp? Swapping the fuel pump to a bosch 044 as well.  icon_thumbup1

ok, cool. I was just curious because I have one of those EIP style manifolds sitting in my garage. Is there any place I can buy that short radius 180 bend?
