Blah blah freaking blah

« on: August 03, 2007, 04:25:40 AM »

Lord!  I love my car, I love my car, I love my car!   undecided I think she's just getting jealous of the bike.

Ok, coming home yesterday and my check engine light came on.  FLASHING none the less.  Got the beast home but it was shuddering like nobody's business along with a loss of power, felt like it was going to die, but it never did.   hyper Shakes like I've never felt it shake.  Found a hole in a hose that was losing some suction, but replaced it (such a minor hole) and it didn't change a thing.  Idle stayed normal, heat was normal for a hot day.  AC did not work earlier in the day (precursor to break down?).

Ideas?

I'm thinking about taking it into the shop to get the codes read, was told to have it towed since the engine light was flashing.

Add to the mix an '04 Getta GLI and you have Sarah's 1.8 turbo stable.

definitely gonna need to see some codes. But IIRC, a flashing CEL could be the CAT or MAF...... Hopefully someone else can chime in.

K codes have been read, 3 came up, one was running lean, one was misfire on two and the last I can't remember (something too wide open).  After checking coil packs and plugs, it looks like it's a fuel injector on two.  OYE!  $211 for just the part.  NOT doing it myself, since I don't want to drive it to my uncles house with all the good tools.  POOP!  Hope that fixes it.  If not I'll be pissed  argh

Shop called, said "it's not the injector, it's electrical.  Take it to the dealer, we're not charging you"  Took it to a shop that could diagnos it and it was an ignition control of some sort.  $421 later it's fixed.  Thank God, it rained HARD all day and I didn't have to ride the bike!  Sigh money well spent.
