Here is what we found.

upper and lower portions of the exhaust housing wet with oil inside. Bit of oil made it down the downpipe to the flange, but catalitic was dry as a bone.

Never had any smoking, or oil dripping from the exhaust system. (Etest also passed fine)

However here is the complication, had to have some headwork done, we had TWO bad exhaust valve guides and thus possibly leaking oil, additionally, the exhaust manifold was also wet with oil at least as far up as I could stick my finger. Its still attached to the head so we dont know yet how much oil is up there.

I STRONGLY suspect that the oil was simply coming down the exaust valve and into the turbo.

However Im not sure and might just send the turbos out to be checked anyhow.

Turbos have 20,000km on em. K04/Rs6 hybrids

No excessive in/out shaft play, and the side/side wiggle is the same between both turbos.

Until we saw the oil, there were no symptoms that im aware of that the turbo seals were failing.

Before the heads went south (two bad intake lifters) the testpipes were switched over to the catalitics for Etest in the fall I think, no sign of any oil then either.

When you say guides do you mean stem seals? Or was it the worn id of the guide causing the leakage?

not sure.

and yeah its running pretty good. some minor idle hunting with the clutch engaged but purely cosmetic.

Just put much much better intercoolers on to help combat my high IAT.
