mother of fuck... certainly explains why the car has been running like a bag of shit all spring.

Not sure when they failed. Car was strong into november. Parked it... put new 630cc software in and problems just kept coming.

shitty boost, misfires... 10-15 degrees of timing pulled etc

each time i blamed the new file, each time something new broke or was found to be bad, TB, waterpump, PCV valve... and each time the problems were still there.

Finnally put the car on the hoist, had blastech go over every inch, pulled the fucking revolver cams, replaced the busted engine mounts with new ones.... STILL massive misfire problems.. just about to blame the software again, purchase shotgun, go mike hunting, and BAM found three bad lifters..

I swear to god im getting sick of this bullshit.

Near as we can figure the retarded lift of the revolvers combined with all the high reving every weekend probably killed them.

My bad luck started with a 4000$ tranny job in august/sept lost a month of fun time.. but was rewarded with an awesome dyno run in october.... put the new file on in march after a long hiatus. and its been nothing but frustration again since.

heres to hoping the bad lifters are the last thing that was fucking up the car.

 stuff I got now:

ASP solid engine/tranny mounts, PureMS rear diff mounts, Jaybquicks latest all steel shifter assembly, (pivot bearings, delrin guides)... STOCK cams cuz with all that poly, no way i want lumpy anymore... and unitronics latest and greatest file.

Godamn i was pissed though. I mean holy fuck. Thousands of dollars of labour, and really no further ahead until we found those bad lifters.

Glad you got it worked out. I wonder if the lifter went bad from just having it sit too long over the winter...

How long did the motor sit for? We just had something similar happen to a 16vt we recently built. The customer brought us the engine, and I think they said it was sitting for a year maybe two. The lifters were new when the engine was built, but failed 150 miles later..2 of them. We changed them all and its doing fine now.

sat for only three months. and that wasnt the full extent of the problem. a few leaking exhaust valve guides were found as well after the mechanic put a few intake valves through piston 4 and 5 when he fucked up the cam reinstall.

All the lifters had wear in them. good thing they were changed.
