well it's been 5 yrs since my last video post here with my gti. I have forgotten about this place, and I have not been too active on the vortex either. 66K miles on the car now, about 35K with the apr kit. Lot's of seat time and I have the car "finished" where I am not buying any parts other than maintenance its. Lately maintenance had been rotors, pads, hubs, axles, and one cooked 28RS turbo. I know "everyone" has huge gt4xx turbos and 5000 hp now, but I am very happy with my 350whp on race gas. It's way more than this FWD chassis needs for track use.

Now running GT28RS turbo - effectively the III+ kit + intake manifold+ FMIC+ head porting+ 630cc injectors+ water/meth
Suspension is koni coilovers revalved up front with 650lb springs, and 400 lb rears on ground control perches.
H2 spindles up front and H2 control arms. Spherical metal bearings up front and for the rear beam. The steering feel and response is amazing.
Brakes are AP racing up front hawk blues, and stock rear brakes with cheap junk rear pads for a good balance. i was locking rears alot. Alignment - zero toe in the rear, 2mm toe out up front - 2 deg negative rear, 3 degrees negative up front.

Biggest mod by far has been the seat time. You just can't go fast in a fast car until you learn how to drive. I spent the last 2 years racing a 100 hp bmw 318 and it has helped tremendously with my lap times at the track. My GTI is now down to 101.5 at limerock, and there are very few road legal cars running those times. The back markers this memorial day weekend were 101.x and the front runners 59.xx in $200K+ pro race cars.  I got a little bored with the GTI because I can't "race" it wheel to wheel. It doesn't fit any real classes. So i bought a spec miata last year and have been running that. 100 hp and I am in the 104's with it so far on old tires. Hoping for 103's with fresh rubber this week.

some gti vids from last year.  i am probably only running the vw one time this year on the 23rd with www.cartct.com.
