I was scanning friends car and found this code
17837 - Circuit for Brake Vacuum Pump: Open Circuit
P1429 - 35-00 - -
didn't have time to look under the hood.
Anyone has any ideas?

open circuit usually mean its unplugged.  Look at all the electronics that have to do with the vacuum pump.  Make sure all the connections are good.  What kind of car is it?

Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to look under the hood, but we will definately check what you suggested. Thanks.

the reason for that fault code was a broken rotor on the vacuum pump. it has been replaced and set no code since.
