Hey Bob,

Thought you might like the crazy idea? yes

Unfortunately the adjustment is on the chain side, so there won't be a whole lot of tinkering, but we have a pretty good idea where to start while putting it together.

Between the Wolk modified intake cam and the traditional adjustable exhaust cam gear from Eurospec, I have full control of cam timing. These cams are custom ground Piper cams and we should have some impressions by 1st of next year.

(Finaly some pics)

I'm very eager to see some results, and a littlle nervous about how these cams are going to idle.
Worse case I can always go back to the stock cams(except that I screwed up the stock intake cam with my failed first prototype) drink

The head is of non VVT flavor, but I think I will just slot the holes on the cam position sensor and rotate it to match the cam.

Thanks for the cam offers guys, hopefully I won't be needing them.
Unfortunately looks like I got to make one more modification to get these bastards to work. Arrrggg this is getting old, better well be worth it.

No decent pics of the adjustment mechanism, but basicly the four bolts and plate pinch the gear onto the shaft that is now a slip fit. The first prototype I was pinching against the shoulder, and promptly busted the shoulder clean off after tighting the screws a little more for good measure. argh
That sent me back to the drawing board, and I spent a couple weeks just thinking how I could do it without pushing on the cast Iron shoulder. Eventualy I came up with a great solution, that wasn't complicated or excesively expensive. So now I can tighten the crap out of the 6mm bolts with no worries.

1st I modified the intake cam, since the exaust cam has the adjustable front side sproket. Only to realize that the damn chain tensioner covered up the bolts, and made it nearly imposible to adjust once assembled. So after all that work I had to go back and do the exhaust side as well, since that's the one you can actualy get to. Of course adjusting them on the dyno is gonna suck, but for dialing in the cams on the engine stand, it worked realy well.

Nice work. From the side pic it looks like you can get to all of the bolts at one time by popping up the valve cover gasket and the "half moon"

Awesome!!  Looks like there is a set screw to locate it correctly?  Does that stay in place?

Yes,i installed a 4mm set screw in there with allen key head, this screw goes into the slot on the camshaft which is 4mm wide.

The inner ring is crimped/press fit (not sure of the english word) onto the camshaft like standard sprockets are + this set screw lock the inner ring completely

Set screw can't come out, because the sprocket itself will cover part of the hole which the set screw is installed inside.

Adjustment range is maybe a little overkill, almost 2 teeths or around 65 crank degrees  Very Happy

Because of VERY limited space i had to use small allen bolts, but i used 6 of them to make sure it won't slip

I would have uploaded more pics, but a friend borrowed the prototype for using it into his race car
