I'm porting my AWW cyl. head to match the AEB size and i'm wondering if i can go bigger w/o worrying:

right now the gasket matches, but there is a minor flare between the gasket and the valves vs. the 'straight shot' of the AEB head.

vs.

Adam's stock AEB head

The castings are different.  i don;t think you will hit water jackets, but you can't replicate the AEB port, the small port has a different port floor.  I would really caution that without flow bench testing, it is quite possible to hurt flow rather than help it.
