I was replacing a secondary waterpump on a 2.7T S4 today and after removing the fuel injectors, I noticed that (what I would condiser to be) the ideal spray pattern (as in directly into the ports) was obstructed by none other than...  the intake manifold????

It's hard to describe without actually seeing it for yourself, but it's almost as if the bore for the fuel injector is "D" shaped, however the flat of the "D" is shrouding the intake ports?

Anyway, the design seemed pretty stupid to me, but it got me wondering if anyone has addressed this while modding the intake manifold?  Any thoughts on what it might do for power or fuel trim, etc?

- Dave.

Probably a bent split spray pattern. Almost no one uses the standard hollow cone spray pattern anymore.
