...I've been considering how well a TB valve in an iris configuration would work. The opening would better control flow into the plenum without augmenting the angle of flow into the plenum.

seen my twin slide throttle and iris throttle idea's?
tumble etc is a factor on n/a motors, where throttle angle on open is <90 degrees to introduce tumble into the cylinder. But this is more important on a t'body close to head in a single throttle per cylinder configuration with injector just downstream of the throttle plate.
