OEM big port head just showed up.

Stock valvetrain (for now)

Shiny bits all lined up

Won't be installed for a few weeks but I'm just glad it's here.  Cool  Can't wait for the monster intake mani to match.
I'll be installing the head as is for the time being to see the gains from just the head and intake mani, then later adding cams and springs.  Bob, I'm assuming you'd recommend the same cams as you did to Don?  This is a daily driven car that sees lots of highway miles.

Glad it arrived...1st we'll see how the 3651's do on my car as a basis to follow before you commit to cams.

I think 3651s will be good for a stock management Mark IV.  I'll be very interested to see Don's results.  I am, however, confident that 3653s would give more power;  the only items that concern me are getting the management tuned to take advantage, and Valve/piston clearance on VVT engines. I do think the bottom end would suffer, so it depends on what is important to each person. Perhaps once we get comparative dynos worked out, Mike Z would be willing to turn off the VVT completely.

Quick reference point- I did  an AEB, stock head, 3653s, RMR intake, ATP log mani, GT 3071- made 470hp or so at 24psi.  Good air though, 40 degrees or so.

Solid stainless exhaust valves??

wot valves do you guys run normally?
I have used Supertech valves for a while now (sell here in the uk for 1.8t upgrades etc)
one piece stainless EV80 black nitrided intakes, but I have chosen inconel exhaust valves for their improved temp range on turbo motors.. (one piece stainless exhaust valves sold for higher revving atmo 20v's)

inconel exhaust valve is 2-piece still as it has to be for hardening collet grooves.

they do single groove valves now too.

recently swapped my springs to theirs too, as I busted one of mine (lucky lucky man I was to not have dropped an exhaust valve) - dual springs now on exhaust ones, and lower retainers now used in their kit, Ti retainers etc.

do you guys use these things or Xldyne (or however you spell it)

It's an OEM Reman, with an OEM label on the side in German.  Meaning they better not be solid SS valves and better be the sodium filled OEM valves.  lol
