Is there any way, using VAG-COM, to bring back ASR or ESP when the MAF is unplugged?  Running open inlet on my buddy's GTI and not that he wants his ASR back...this is more or less a question for those with ESP...any way to get it back?  Thanks.

No ASR requires the maf to operate properly.

ASR is very jerky and intrusive when making more power, bucks pretty hard. Dangerous even.

Is there a way to put something in the harness clip to trick it into thinking the MAF is sending a signal?

No. Sorry. it uses the maf reading to determine the engine load/torque. It's much to complicated to trick it.

Mike Z @ Unitronics has played with ASR and after he changed it's onset/harshness, icon_headbang it's much less intrusive than stock.
