Let me bounce some ideas off you guys.

Just replaced my intake manifold, and throttlebody with ported versions.

So that means introducing all manner of possible vacuum leaks if not done right....

Bear in mind i replaced my TB with a prepolished unit, and will be sending back my original parts as cores.

Did NOT do a TBA before i took her out... (oops)

Started it up. Ran fine, no issues, no audible vacuum leaks, no surging, or RPM climbing. Vacuum on the guage read pefect.

So went for a drive. As soon as the car began adapting it went right into limp.

Pissed off. I turned around, pulled a system too lean code.

stupid me cleared it before checking what bank, and if one side was way leaner than the other.

 Did the TBA.

Went back out.

No limp, drove awhile, and never went above 4% trim. Idle trim was under 1%.

Woohoo, sort of.

 Two possiblilities:

1: i should have done a TBA. Normally clearing the codes and just going driving works just fine with no lean condition, however this TB might be different enough from my old one and its adapted values to have significantly thrown things off. And we all know how fucking sensitive our cars are to the least little fucking thing for part throttle trims.

2: I still have a leak (maybe on the manifold-head flange), and getting the car warmed up just plugged the fucking thing.

New gaskets used all around. manifold was snugged then tightened down a bit at a time, down one side, and up the other.  9-10lbs.

bah. Took her out again. Stone cold, and it was fine.

Trims are still 1-3% in the negative and idle is under 1%

I did notice that if you turn off the AC/climate control. the trims instantly jump up 1-2% kinda neet.
