I just recently purchased a 2000 Jetta GL.

Now I understand Germans are not friend of cupholders, since every single friend of my with a VW or Audi has a broken cupholder.  However I tend to dislike coming to work holding a cup of hot coffee in-between my legs.  It scares me.

I have a cupholder (which is fabulous) but it's broken (which is expected).  I searched the part number on the bottom (1JO 858 601) EVERYWHERE and I cannot find it.  I checked my local dealership and they want $108 for it.  I did find one on ebay and I hold the current highest bid, but is there any better place to get it?

I am also looking to replace quite a few things inside of it and I would like to do it all myself.  If you all don't mind I'll describe them here.

First of all, where can you buy (1) OEM 2000 Jetta Seats and (2) OEM Jetta Steering Wheel and (3) can you buy replacement cloth for inside patches where the cloth is ugly or torn?

Maybe I am being a bit too ambitious for just getting this car 3 days ago but I would really like to fix up the inside (even though the locks are the only thing power inside of it).

I have thought of looking at junk yards and I probably will but if there are any places that are the be-all-end-all of Volkswagens sans overpriced dealerships.  I would love to hear what you all have to say!  Thank you all very much for any help you can offer.

You can try GermanAutoParts for some of those items. They sell OEM VW parts at a discount and are about 15minutes north of Albany. If they don't have the parts listed on the website you can always try calling them. Here's their website:

As for salvange junkyards, L&T enterprises is probably the best in the northeast. Lenny can get you anything and everything VW, the only problem is that he's in Allentown, PA.

Here's the number: 610-264-9191
