On the way home tonight my ABS light came on. My brake light isn't flashing and the ABS light is on solid - not flashing. I recently changed out my brake pads and rotors in the front and have less than 500 miles since the change. I've not liked the feel of the raybestos pads I used so was planning on changing them over to the mintex pads I bought this weekend.

Car is a 1999 1.8T with Tip - any ideas as to what this could be?

You are sure it's the ABS light and not the wear sensor light? Just checking. If it's the ABS light I don't know. If it's the wear sensor light you may have rattled the contact loose on the sensors.

I can only assume its the ABS light as in bright yellow on my dash ABS is lit.  If you're referring to the wear sensor for the pads, my MY didn't have the sensors, its an early 1999.  Thanks for trying though.

i'm pretty sure when that happens its something to do with MAF or CAT?? only thing i can suggest is to have it scanned. as long as the light isn't flashing it should be ok till you findout whats going on.

Okay just took it to Dahlbach Racing and Northern European Auto and had them put the VAG-COM on it. Good news is that its only the sensor, looking at just a couple hundred bucks to fix it. I would normally tackle this myself except that since I already frigged it up, I figure I'll just let them do it.
