Limp mode is a safety feature that is built into your ecu that detects some freakish behavior and to protect the car, it goes into "SAFE MODE" sort of like your computer at home.

(when chipped)
Limp mode; Hard = 5psi
Limp mode; Soft  = approx. 10psi ...soft is different...soft is not soo much real limp, soft allows you to boost past 5psi, but the boost is not strong and doesn't hold long...soft is normally caused by bad sensors...bad maf or a slowly dying maf..or a bad n75...

soft limp will go away while the car is driving whereas a hard limp usually needs to be cleared.

there is also another form of hard limp "EPC" when this light comes on that means something major in your throttle body region is happening...not major as in destruction, major as in not working properly. I am currently have "EPC" limp mode...and that means i probably have to align my throttle body.
