ok so i got a used turbosmart type I for cheap. it was dirty. i cleaned it and it sounds cool even on my stock motor. whatever.
the spring is obviously very strong as i have compressor surge when getting off it at part throttle. boost a little higher initially but still settle normally[i have no chip just a N75J and i spike to 14psi and settle at 10psi]
however sometimes my car will go into soft limp[5psi] and throw the code 17705 turbo to throttle pressure drop. im not sure exactly what is happening when the car decides to finally go into soft limp. either way if i turn off and on the car its gone. i should note there is no CEL. it just wont boost above 5psi. is it just because the spring is strong or what could be the problem?
is there any fix for this or should i just put my dv back in? would bypassing the N249 help eliminate the problem?
i dont really care too much if i put it on or not but it would be kinda cool if i could keep it.

thanks in advance.

i'd say put your stock dv or whatever dv you had in before and see what happens...

i did and it just goes back to normal.
on the way to work i noticed that if i was constantly in and out of boost soft limp wont enable. but when i was in 5th crusing on the highway when i got off the car had limped on me. maybe the spring is so strong that under part throttle cruising when the dv would normally just open[the turbo isnt needed] it cant open the BOV and thinks something is wrong. i have had a few sporadic malfunction N249 codes as well. ... hmmmm

anyone else with idea?
